★ HANDWOVEN Mingei - Vintage japanese silk nagoya obi fabric - sold by the yard - CHIKUZEN HAKATA ORI - KASUMI ★
KASUMI means haze or mist, which represents the particular landscape atmosphere we see in the evening or morning.
HAKATA ORI is traditional Japanese textile that has been produced in Fukuoka Prefecture for more than 770 years. It's favoured as an obi fabric for its stiff, sturdy weave, making it easy to tie obi knots that will not slip and loosen with wear. Having a unique rustling sound, it's lustrous and firm. Designs come out as the warp is raised after the weft is strongly woven in the compacted warp.
