★ RARE collector piece - Vintage Japanese Dorei bell by Mizushige Kikuchi - HORSE - UMA ★
Horse is the 7th symbol in the Japanese Zodiac. In the past, horses and people lived and worked side by side, and their mighty bodies and their power made them the symbol of “life”. This sign represents “liveliness” and “openness”.
Uma is a universal symbol of freedom without restraint, because riding a horse made people feel they could free themselves from their own bindings.
This bell was created by Mizushige Kikuchi, who quit his job in 1970 and opened the Rokumo kiln in Sukagawa. The stylish design was popular, but after death of the artist in 1995, it was abolished after one generation.
