★ RARE collector piece - Vintage Japanese Dorei bell by Mizushige Kikuchi  - KAPPA RYOMEN ★

KAPPA is said to be roughly humanoid in form and about the size of a child, inhabiting the ponds and rivers of Japan. It is typically greenish in color, and either scaly or slimy skinned, with webbed hands and feet, and a turtle-like carapace on its back.

This bell was created by Mizushige Kikuchi, who quit his job in 1970 and opened the Rokumo kiln in Sukagawa. The stylish design was popular, but after death of the artist in 1995, it was abolished after one generation.
