KIKKO means "tortoise shell". Hexagons are taken from the shape of plates on a tortoise shell, representing strength and long life. 

 

Nishijin ori is a traditional textile produced in the Nishijin district of Kyoto. The type of weaving is known for its highly-decorative and finely-woven designs, created through the use of tedious processes.

Nishijin ori is registered trademark in order to preserve the traditional process.
