★ HANDWOVEN Kyoto Nishijin Omeshi - vintage japanese kimono fabric - wool silk blend - sold by the yard - SUIKOU TSUMUGI ★
TACHIWAKU is pattern resembling rising steam. In the Heian period, pattern required advanced fabric making techniques. Therefore, it was exclusively used on clothes for the upper class.
NISHIJIN is a traditional textile produced in the Nishijin district of Kyoto. Originating in Heian-kyoto over 1200 years ago, Nishijin weaving is known for its highly-decorative and finely-woven designs, created through the use of tedious and specialised production processes. Nishijin is registered trademark in order to preserve the traditional process.
